Spencer Valley School District is beginning a new planting  project to acknowledge the First People on the land for which the school sits. They are installing a native plant garden with respect to indigenous uses of plants, supporting pollinator habitat, and using the indigenous language to provide signage in honor of the Iipay Nation. Tribal members will be present to provide a blessing along with Tribal youth to assist with the planting. San Diego Wild Ones is coordinating with the local Tribe and will provide site preparation, plant donations, and assistance with planting strategies on the day of the event.
